Backyard Golf

Play a game of golf, in your
own backyard!

This game is fun for kids of
all ages, and can be played
anywhere!

The object of this game is to hit
the chosen target(s) in the
fewest number of strokes.



What You Will Need:

• 1 or more Players (2 or more for a competition)
• Open Area of Backyard
• 1 Golf Club for each player
• 1 Whiffle Golf Ball, Tennis Ball, or Pinky Ball for each player

What You Do:

• Determine which player will start.
• The first player chooses an object as the target for the first hole. For example, a swingset post or a tree. This player then hits the ball to try to reach the destination.
• Just like in real golf, the players each take turns hitting their golf balls toward the destination, in the least amount of strokes as possible.
• When a player has reached the destination, the winner of the hole (the player with the fewest strokes) gets to choose the next target.
• The winner is the player with the fewest total strokes at the end of the game.

Variations:

• If more than one player has the same number of strokes to a target, take turns determining the next destination.
• If you prefer, decide ahead of time how many "holes" you are going to play and what the targets are. Or, just play hole-to-hole as the instructions above indicate.
• Keep track of your strokes on a piece of paper.
• For a less competitive game, don't count the strokes - just have fun taking turns trying to hit the target.
• Choose distant targets for long shots! It's a lot of fun to really hit the ball and see it fly!
• Don't have golf clubs? Use baseball bats, hockey sticks, or even sticks that have fallen from trees. Be creative!
• If you live in a neighborhood with adjoining backyards, get your neighbors involved and play in more than one yard! This is great for those long shots!
