What You Will Need:

• Tree Seedling
• Measuring Tape
• Shovel
• Camera

What You Do:

• For your child's next birthday, take him to a garden center or nursery and help him choose his own special tree.
• Help your child determine the perfect location in your yard for the tree, then work together to plant it. (This is a great opportunity to explain to your child what it takes to grow a tree — a simple science lesson).
• Take a picture of your child standing next to their tree. Measure the height of both the tree and your child and enter these measurements on the back of the picture.
• Every year on your child's birthday, take another picture of your child standing next to their tree and take new measurements.
• Continue taking pictures and entering measurements every year on your child's birthday. Who will grow faster?
