Snow Muffins

Snow Muffins

Snow Muffins

Kids absolutely love to help
whip up a tasty batch of
muffins that use REAL snow
as an ingredient!

Talk about winter cooking fun!

Safety Warning: Adult supervision is required.

What You Will Need:
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 3 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 cup Sugar (white or brown)
  • 3/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 3 tablespoons Butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated Lemon or Orange
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Fluffly Snow (clean snow!)
  • 1/2 cup Raisins or Chocolate Chips, optional (we like to add vanilla chips to our muffins)
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Mixing Spoon
  • Muffin Tin

What You Do:
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and sugar.
  • Pour in milk, butter and grated lemon and stir slightly.
  • Add raisins and snow to batter mixture and stir only until the dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Spoon batter into 12 lined muffin cups, filling two-thirds full.
  • Bake for 15 to 18 minutes.
  • Remove muffins from oven and serve warm.

Variations:
  • If you would like, drizzle icing on top of the slightly cooled muffins before serving. The icing looks like melted snow! (To make the icing, mix 1/2 cup of Confectioners' Sugar with enough water to make a smooth, creamy icing. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla for extra flavor.)
  • Instead of icing, sprinkle muffins with a light dusting of Confectioners' Sugar for a wintery look.

Tips:
  • Make sure to use fresh, light and fluffy snow for best results.
