This Sun Paint and UV Beads kit introduces children to ultra violet (UV) light.

Children can make a simple bracelet from a standard pipe cleaner and the UV beads in this kit. The bracelet can function as a UV detector for Summer safety. The UV-sensitive beads contain a pigment which changes color when exposed to ultraviolet light from the Sun or other UV source. The beads are not affected by visible light and remain pale indoors or when shielded from UV light.

Use the special paint to create summer designs and then use sun light to make your artwork change colors.

Experiment by making solar designer art and solar photographs with the special UV paper.

Use the contents of this kit to test sunglasses and suntan lotion for the effectiveness of their UV protection.

The ultraviolet paint and beads will cycle back and forth (to bright colors and back again) over 50,000 times!

The activities in this kit are for children ages 4 through 9 and were designed to stimulate fine motor skills, the senses, and observation skills using real science concepts. While having fun "playing" at science, children are asked to answer such questions as "Does time of day make a difference in how quickly the color changes?", "Does it matter if it is cloudy outside?", and "What could block the sun light?".
