Draw a card... read the Idioms Challenge out loud... then answer the question. If you don't know the idiom, turn the card over for the meaning and origin. Then answer the question.

But be careful! This game of "conversation starters" may reveal both outrageous and silly facts about every player — you included!

• For kids who love to draw, have your child choose a WordTeasers: Idiom card, then draw a literal picture of the idiom. Kids could draw their pictures on one side of an index card, then write the idiom on the backside of card. Show the drawings to friends and see if they can guess the idiom. A fun creative exercise!
• For kids who love to collect things, have them collect idioms! Whenever they are reading and come across an indiom, or hear someone using an idiom, have your child write it down in a notebook. Research the origin of the idiom and include that information in the notebook. How many idioms can you collect?
• For kids with a flair for writing, have them choose 6 or more of their favorite idioms and include them in a short story. The sillier, the better!
• For kids that need to move their bodies, play a game of idiom charades! Choose an idiom card and act out the literal meaning. Who can guess the correct idiom first?
